Help support our senior community to age well and live well
This was a year of renewal and celebration at the Stamford Senior Center. We continue to provide onsite, outdoor and virtual programs as part of our "senior center without walls" model. Our members have returned to the their home away from home to reconnect with old friends, and make new friends. Those unable to return continue to enjoy our online classes. The SSC's cafe is filled with members enjoying an affordable meal in the company of friends between classes like Art, Tai Chi, Yoga and so much more.
This past summer we hosted our 4th Annual Senior Olympic games with over 60 seniors ranging in age from 62-92 participating in these games that promote the Olympic spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.
In July over 40 of our members volunteered their time and artistic talents to hep transform a drab concrete bridge at the entrance of Cove Island, into a beautiful seascape mural. if you have a chance, we encourage you to go see it for yourself. It is a gift from our members to our community.
The SSC plays a vital role in providing seniors with a safe, affordable place to come to help keep their minds and bodies healthy. The high costs of everyday necessities like food, fuel, utilities and prescription drugs are hurting everyone, but in particular older adults living on a fixed income. It is more important than ever that we continue to offer our programs to seniors at little to no cost. Scholarships are provided to any senior who cannot pay the nominal fees, thanks to the generous support of our donors.
We thank you for anything you can give to support our senior community at this time.
