Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the unprecedented measures that states and cities across the country are taking to reduce the spread of the virus, we have been forced to cancel the Stamford Senior Center's Lives Blossom spring fundraising event that was scheduled for April 30th. As you know, Governor Lamont has issued an order limiting public gatherings to less than 50 people. At this time, no one can predict how long these measures will be in place. With so much uncertainty, we made the difficult decision to cancel the event.

Lives Blossom is our most important fundraising event of the year, raising critical funds to support our programs and services to keep seniors active and healthy in mind and body. If you haven't already bought a ticket or sponsorship to the event we hope you will consider making a donation to the SSC and help us close the funding gap that has been created by the cancellation of this event.

If you have already bought a ticket or sponsored the event and would like a refund, please contact: Christina Crain at ccrain@stamfordct.gov or call (203) 977-5238.

This global pandemic is frightening for all of us, but in particular for our seniors who are at the greatest risk. The Senior Center has been closed since March 12 to help protect our members from potential exposure. As cases in the state continue to grow, it is possible that the Center could be closed for an extended period of time resulting in prolonged social isolation that leads to loneliness and depression among the elderly. The staff is now focusing our efforts to make sure our members are safe and have food, medications and other basic necessities to survive this pandemic and stay safe in their homes, while trying to keep them virtually connected to reduce the risks of social isolation.

Together, as a community, we will overcome these difficult days, and we look forward to celebrating our honorees next year with all of you. Hoping you and your loved ones stay well and healthy.
