Help support our senior community to age well and live well
The Stamford Senior Center's mission is to provide affordable opportunities for older adults to remain active and healthy in mind and body, and remain connected to their community in a safe, welcoming and diverse environment. 2021 was another challenging year for all, as we dealt with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and all its implications. However, it was also a year of renewed hope and optimism. The Stamford Senior Center (SSC) assisted over 6,000 older adults with getting their vaccines and boosters, removing the technology barriers that made it very difficult for many seniors to navigate. On June 28, 2021, after 15 months of delivering meals to seniors in their homes, hosting drive thru lunches and virtual classes, the SSC was able to welcome our members back to the Center. Today, the Center is thriving with our members, who have a renewed sense of purpose and connection to the community. COVID forced us to adapt to how we deliver services and from the pandemic, our "senior center without walls" concept was born. Today, we continue to operate within that model, providing onsite programs, streaming live classes on Zoom and doing outdoor classes in the park to serve Stamford's diverse senior community, wherever they feel safe and comfortable. We could not do this without the generous support of donors like you.
